Programs For Members

PEAK members can use club equipment, including club singles, doubles, quads, coxed four, 8, plus oars, slings and pfds. They are eligible for the programs below. In addition, members often arrange to row together outside of programs. Standley Lake is open from May 1 to Sept 30.

Free Coaching

Our coached group sessions are available under the BHC Practice tab. The structure, lineups, and boats will be determined by the coach in charge for the date you choose - no 2 sessions are the same.

Wednesdays, for novices/intermediate rowers, July 8 & 22, August 5 & 19; 6 to 7:30 pm

Saturdays, for experienced rowers, July 18, August 8 & 29, 7 to 8:30 am

Sundays, for novice rowers, July 26, August 2, September 13, 7:30 to 9 am

Private Lessons

You can be matched with a PEAK coach on a per-lesson basis.

Cost: $75 for one 75-minute lesson

Meet Our Coaches

DawnMarie Schwappach

A USRowing coach and referee, DawnMarie has served the rowing community for 20+ years. She has adapted her coaching to effectively reach juniors, seniors, veterans and adaptive athletes as well as those with Asperger’s, post concussive/traumatic brain injury and learning disabilities. One of the nation’s first indoor rowing instructors, she developed a local program in 1996 which is still going strong today.

Erika Nelson-Wong

Erika is a USRowing level 1 certified coach who has competed in local and regional regattas in both sculling and sweep events. Erika made the switch from competitive cycling to rowing in 2001.

Deb Kornblut

Deb is a USRowing level 1 certified coach. She was introduced to the magic of rowing while at the College of William & Mary. She has been rowing since 2017 and has experience in sweep, scull and gig rowing. Prior to PEAK, she rowed with the Anchorage Rowing Association. She is always ready to share her excitement of the sport with others!

Peter Gozar

A USRowing level 2, adaptive & para certified coach, Pete has been sharing his love of rowing and sculling since the early 1990s. Originally from Cleveland, he was on the Kent State University Rowing Club team, and then a coach with Western Reserve Rowing Association and Rocky Mountain Rowing Club. Pete has competed in local, national and international regattas and is a founding force behind Rocky Mountain Rowing Club’s annual 5280 regatta.
