Learn To Scull in Small Boats (Private Lesson)
Requires a private Oarboard lesson before moving to this level. Taught in a single scull (2 oars) or double scull (2 people/4 oars). This is the next stage toward becoming a PEAK member and participating in member-only lessons/rows. You must sign up more than 7 days in advance.
Cost: $150 each class

Additional Sculling Lessons
After your initial Oarboard/small boat lesson, continue your skills progression with one-on-one lessons with a US Rowing-certified coach.
Cost: $100 for each for a 90-minute lesson
Cost: $350 for a pack of four lessons
Private Oarboard Lesson
No previous experience required. Learn to row on a super-stable Oarboard (2 oars) with help from a PEAK USRoing certified coach. An Oarboard may be just your speed, perfect for exploring Standley’s coves, or you may decide to move on to a faster skinny scull. After this private lesson, you will be able to rent an Oarboard directly from Standley Lake. Option to move on to PEAK’s Learn To Scull in Small Boats private lesson. You must sign up more than 7 days in advance.

Meet Our Coaches
DawnMarie Schwappach
A USRowing coach and referee, DawnMarie has served the rowing community for 20+ years. She has adapted her coaching to effectively reach juniors, seniors, veterans and adaptive athletes as well as those with Asperger’s, post concussive/traumatic brain injury and learning disabilities. One of the nation’s first indoor rowing instructors, she developed a local program in 1996 which is still going strong today.
Erika Nelson-Wong
Erika is a USRowing level 1 certified coach who has competed in local and regional regattas in both sculling and sweep events. Erika made the switch from competitive cycling to rowing in 2001.
Deb Kornblut
Deb is a USRowing level 1 certified coach. She was introduced to the magic of rowing while at the College of William & Mary. She has been rowing since 2017 and has experience in sweep, scull and gig rowing. Prior to PEAK, she rowed with the Anchorage Rowing Association. She is always ready to share her excitement of the sport with others!
Peter Gozar
A USRowing level 2, adaptive & para certified coach, Pete has been sharing his love of rowing and sculling since the early 1990s. Originally from Cleveland, he was on the Kent State University Rowing Club team, and then a coach with Western Reserve Rowing Association and Rocky Mountain Rowing Club. Pete has competed in local, national and international regattas and is a founding force behind Rocky Mountain Rowing Club’s annual 5280 regatta.
